Cheek piercings generally have an extended and involved healing time, as they pass through very mobile tissue in your face. They require a larger gauge (thicker posts) to promote faster healing and increased comfort.

Healing can take up to a couple of years due to the thickness of the tissue. Hypertrophic scar tissue/fluid build-ups/problematic healing are common during the first year.
