Upper lips can be done centred (philtrum/medusa) or to the side (monroe) and are generally trickier to line up, but heal just as fast as lower lips. Monroe piercings can even be done in pairs for a unique look. They always require a downsize during the healing period, as the initial jewellery needs extra length to allow for a swelling.
Care has to be taken to avoid playing with the piercing during the healing period, to avoid irritation and excessive scar tissue.
It is important to note that any oral piercing can cause tooth and gum damage. Your practitioner will discuss ideal placement, jewellery options and aftercare to minimise this risk.
