Tongue webbing piercings are anatomical, as you need a specific frenulum structure (the web itself) to sustain the piercing.

They offer a quick and relatively painless piercing that typically heals quickly. They can be prone to scar tissue if aggravated or manipulated during the healing process, and are anatomically sensitive, meaning that some people lack the supportive tissue necessary for it to remain in place long-term.

Although migration and rejection are realistic expectations for any webbing piercing, if placed correctly on the correct anatomy, the risk can be minimised.
